Sometimes the good we do isn’t measurable. Or more accurately, we don’t take time to measure it. The word needs positivity and goodness right now. And you are providing the something good we need. Here are some good things you can count today: (1) Number of smiles you’ve been responsible for today; (2) Number of chuckles you’ve generated; (3) Number of hugs you have given; (4) Number of new ideas you’ve put in motion; (5) Number of seeds you’ve planted; (6) Number of relationships you’ve nurtured; (7) Number of times you’ve offered healing or helping words. You are the something good we need...

Nothing comes from nothing

Nothing ever could

So somewhere in my youth or childhood

I must’ve done something good.

~Oscar Hammerstein II~

You’ve done something good.

If you tracked all the contributions and all the ways that you’ve made a difference, you would be overwhelmed.

If all the people you have helped in some way could come forward and tell you today what a difference you made, you would be stunned.

We go about our lives making people smile, shaping people’s lives, doing what we do and we rarely take inventory of the goodness we bring.

The other night the song "Something Good" from The Sound of Music popped into my mind....

If hindsight is 2020 then this is the year for 2020 vision. What are the life lessons that past experiences have gifted to you? How will these propel you forward? What’s in the future for you? How do you envision the places and people you choose to spend time with? This is the year. Envision it. Make it happen. It's within your power. Expect a year of clarity and wisdom. ~Kathy~

Happiness is like a butterfly - the more you chase it, the more it eludes - but if you turn your attention to other things, it comes and sits softly on your shoulder. ~Kathy~

A few years ago, I noticed that caterpillars were attracted to the parsley in my garden. Having young children at the time, I decided it would be exciting to see what would happen if we put one of the hungry caterpillars in a jar. We went into the back yard and carefully selected small branches, grass, and pine straw to put in our large “sun tea” container, and proceeded to feed our caterpillar enough parsley to keep him content. We placed a wax pape...

I often hear leaders say, "That will never work." This type of certainty is based on data collected in the past. The sentiment can make us feel stuck. Sometimes energy is devoted to what cannot be - instead of what can be. Conclusions based on old data may not be true. What if we imagined a new possibility for our lives? What if we imagined that something just might be possible - if we tried. It is true that we may try and that it will not work, but it is also possible that with the right kind of proactive effort and positive thought, we can promote new beginnings. If you are encountering resistance at your workplace, in...

We do a great job taking care of others. Valentine's week is a great time to remember that we need to love and take care of ourselves.

This list gives a few ideas for your consideration. What do you do to show yourself that you care? Add it to the list - better yet, send me a note. We'll create a new list to share!

1. Breathe with the intention of releasing some tension. If you are at your computer or on your phone right now, releasing the tension from your shoulders and take 3 deep breaths.

2. Say nice things to yourself. Are there some "sweet nothings" you have been longing to hear? Commit to saying positive things to you...

Have you ever felt like you were in a state of limbo - like you were suspended in that interminable span of time where nothing seems to move forward or backward?

It may have felt like your legs wouldn't or couldn’t move things forward - like you are bending backwards under a stick trying to make your legs move forward.

If you are in a state of limbo about anything right now, I have good news for you.

You have limitless choices ahead of you. The future is bright. You can take control – gently and easily. It will require some positive intention and some effort and you can do it. You must believe it is possible.

Let me s...

And the award for “Best Screen Writing” goes to….

You are the head writer for your life script. What does your script look like for today? Have you given yourself every chance for success? What lines are you choosing to say out loud?

Sometimes, we may find ourselves rehearsing a “bad script” that needs to be re-written. Can you think of any scripts or scenes that are being repeated in your life? If so, take heart. This crash course in “screenwriting” may help.

Step 1: Identify Recurring Scripts

Identify the scripts that are playing in your mind. We often repeat scripts without being aware of them. Begin listening to your inn...

Yesterday as my husband and I were driving back from a day-trip to the beach, there was a terrible rainstorm accompanying us on the interstate.

It was the kind of storm that made me drive slower, open my eyes wider, sit forward, grip tighter and put my hazards on. It was raining so hard that I couldn’t see the cars in front of me. I told myself, “Just put your hands on the wheel and drive.”

Sitting in the passenger seat was my navigator who helpfully informed me that it was raining very hard. (By the way, he too was sitting forward in his seat. Nobody rests well in that kind of storm.)

Trying to be helpful, he found the wea...

We cannot not grow. Celebrate your growth - it is inevitable and positive. And yet growth can be challenging as we feel the stretch of it. Identify and eliminate any potential resistance (i.e., reset your point of attraction if your words, thoughts and actions are not aligned with your positive dreams). And then....invite growth - allow it - nurture it - get out of the way of it - refresh your thoughts about it - mark your progress - enjoy the beauty of it. Feel the rush of it as you stretch toward your dream. Wishing you sunshine and gentle refreshing rain through the leaves of your growth. ~Kathy~...
