As I lay in bed - eyes open each night, this article has been running through my mind. I wrote it long ago when internal/external organizational changes came and went for my clients - always too slowly but always inevitably passing. Like most everything around us, it's time for a re-write - and here it is....

These days it feels like we are on a monster boat ride - end destination not quite certain - aftermath not quite clear. Change often feels like that - one particular ride comes to mind.

A little while back, my family and I took a ride on a "Monster Boat" on the east coast of North Carolina. It...

“If ever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together…

There is something you must always remember.

You are braver than you believe,

Stronger than you seem,

And smarter than you think.

But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart,

I’ll always be with you.”

~A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh~

Have you ever been on an off-road adventure?

You might have gone to a place that specializes in these unpaved experiences. There may have been a guide, a padded vehicle, a helmet, etc. If you’re an adventure seeker, you might have heard laughs and screams of delight as the driver intentionally steered off the road where things got bumpy on r...

You are never alone.

There are times when we feel separated from what we perceive to be “the majority.” We might be going through something or experiencing something that makes us feel different.

When this happens, remember that you are never alone. There is a pack for you.

There are others who are experiencing warrior spirit and encountering some unexpected life events – i.e., events that catapult us forward into growth.

Whatever you are experiencing that makes you feel alone is a moment-in-time poised to launch you to a new place – a better place – a wiser place.

One of Carolyn Myss’ books (Sacred Contracts) posed a questio...

And the award for “Best Screen Writing” goes to….

You are the head writer for your life script. What does your script look like for today? Have you given yourself every chance for success? What lines are you choosing to say out loud?

Sometimes, we may find ourselves rehearsing a “bad script” that needs to be re-written. Can you think of any scripts or scenes that are being repeated in your life? If so, take heart. This crash course in “screenwriting” may help.

Step 1: Identify Recurring Scripts

Identify the scripts that are playing in your mind. We often repeat scripts without being aware of them. Begin listening to your inn...

Invite new beginnings. New ways of thinking. New ways of speaking. New ways of acting. New beginnings are just around the corner - sometimes we have to invite them. New beginnings are one thought, conversation, or action away. Where would you like to invite a new beginning? Believe. Try. Hope. Wishing you peace, clarity and new beginnings. ~Kathy~

"Autumn-Allegro-Adagio Molto" (The Four Seasons) by Antonio Vivaldi

Autumn is all about letting go of the old and embracing the new. What is the new beginning you would like to embrace? Visualize the future - write down what you see. ~Kathy~

It’s all about choices.

There is purpose in the more difficult path, but never forget that it starts with choices.

Is there anything you could do to make things a little easier for yourself? Find the easier path. It is waiting for you if you want it.

And the door to the easier path opens when we choose to think a new way, interact a new way, feel a different way about something, etc.

Every journey starts with choices ~ choose with intention.

Losing your job hurts. It can fill you with self doubt, disillusionment, sadness and anger. It can also give you determination, resilience and - gifts.

You might say I have an insider's view of transition. I have been involved in outplacement counseling at a major corporation; I have been at the table when reorganization decisions have been made; I have coached/trained thousands in transition processes; and I have experienced job loss myself.

Now – listen to what I am going to tell you and please believe it when you hear it:

Everything happens for a reason. There are great things ahead. Your working for XYZ was not a...

Life is like hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Have you ever taken a hike that promised something special at the end? If you have hiked in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it might have been a waterfall or a mountaintop view. And if it was a trail of any length, I’ll bet there were probably a few vistas along the way.

The vistas I am thinking of have given me an opportunity to rest, take a sip of water, eat a snack, look around and plan my next steps.

I have to admit that there have also been times when I just kept on hiking ~ so fixed on the final destination, I missed the vista altogether and missed a beautiful view!

It’s reall...

There is one morning that is magical each spring. My husband and I both look for it to come. It's that morning when you open the blinds and, all of a sudden, the trees have sprouted greenery. It's like we have entered the Land of Oz. That morning came last week.

You know, life is a lot like that. One day you wake up and it's spring. The hard winter is over and you feel the relief of spring. The winter will pass. Spring always follows winter. What is your winter? What is your spring? Water the soil. Sometimes all that is required is the passage of time. Either way, spring is inevitable. ~Kathy~
