10 Ideas for Loving Yourself More

We do a great job taking care of others. Valentine's week is a great time to remember that we need to love and take care of ourselves.

This list gives a few ideas for your consideration. What do you do to show yourself that you care? Add it to the list - better yet, send me a note. We'll create a new list to share!

1. Breathe with the intention of releasing some tension. If you are at your computer or on your phone right now, releasing the tension from your shoulders and take 3 deep breaths.

2. Say nice things to yourself. Are there some "sweet nothings" you have been longing to hear? Commit to saying positive things to yourself this week. Write it down in a love letter to yourself.

3. Treat yourself this week. We often "treat" others with a piece of candy, a flower or a card. What is it for you? It might be a walk at the lake, a bunch of flowers, or a hot bath. Whatever it is, do it!

4. Say "yes" when someone offers to help you this week. Remember that you don't have to do it all by yourself. Someone may be trying to help - let it be music to your ears!

5. Listen to some energizing music. Better yet - dance to it. Moving will also accomplish #1 above - move your shoulders, your hands, whatever - just move!

6. The next time you are in the bathroom - smile at yourself. Do it until you smile back - for real.

7. Let something on your "to do" list go this week. Pick the lowest item(s) on your priority list, drop them, and replace it with something fun!

8. Step outside, be real quiet and listen to the sounds for 2 minutes. Take note of what you hear. And, if you are a multi-tasker, you may as well breath deeply and release some tension while you are out there!

9. Stand with confidence. One way we show our confidence and feel our confidence is by standing tall. Stand with your weight evenly distributed on two feet, hold your shoulders back and lift your head toward the heavens. Feel the strength.

10. Add your own self-care ideas. What do you do more of when you want to take care of yourself?

Be good to yourself. When you honor and care for yourself you are better able to support others.
